26 November 2014: 26 November 2014: Junior School’s Harvest Assembly Raises Funds for Shelter Box   
On Thursday 6 November, Dollar Academy’s Junior School celebrated its, now traditional, Harvest Assembly in the Burnside Hall.  This has become a much-loved annual event—as notable for the enthusiastic and energetic fundraising in the weeks leading up to it, as for the occasion itself.


26 November 2014: Prep Five Visit The Royal Botanical Garden in Edinburgh

An integral part of every generation of P5’s study is the Rainforest topic.  And, integral to this topic, is the annual visit to The Royal Botanical Garden in Edinburgh.  This session was no exception.


25 November 2014: Dollar Pupils Undertake Work Experience in France
On Friday 17 October, seven FVI pupils, accompanied by Miss Sieger (Modern Languages Teacher), travelled to France for a week of work experience.  The pupils worked in different businesses in the town of Tours, in the centre of France, where they stayed with the families of their exchange partners, students at the Lycée Saint Grégoire.  


24 November 2014: 24 November 2014: Dollar Pupils Compete in Central Schools Swimming Championships 2014
 Dollar Academy sent pupils of all ages to swim in the Central Schools Swimming Championships, held in Grangemouth on Saturday 8 November.  They acquitted themselves very well indeed, bringing home both the Best Primary School Trophy and the Best Secondary School Trophy.  


24 November 2014: Dollar Remembers

Dollar’s Remembrance Sunday Parade took place on Sunday 9 November, offering a solemn opportunity to celebrate and recall all of those individuals who gave up their lives whilst serving their nation in World I, World II and all subsequent conflicts. 


21 November 2014: Dollar Contributes to Children in Need Fundraising Drive
Dollar Academy’s Charities Committee members work hard every year to ensure a sizeable contribution goes to ‘Children in Need’.  This year, two fundraising events coordinated by the Charities Committee members raised over £1100. 


21 November 2014: Dollar Academy U16 Triumph in Semi-Finals of Brewin Dolphin Scottish Schools Cup 2014-15

Dollar Academy U16 fought their way through an extremely tight semi-final of the Brewin Dolphin Cup to win 7-13 at a wet Myreside on Friday 14 November.


13 November 2014: Pupil and Tutor Shine at World Solo Drumming

On Saturday 18 October, the World Solo Drumming Championships took place at Glasgow Caledonian University and, this year, Dollar Academy can boast great achievements from both a pupil and a staff tutor. 


12 November 2014: Golf at Dollar Academy

After a very busy summer term last session, Dollar’s golfers have hit the ground running this autumn with a calendar full of exciting events and upcoming matches. 


11 November 2014: Dollar Accies Host Rugby Match Against Loretto

On Saturday 1 November the Dollar Academicals (Dollar Accies) sponsored an event that has become somewhat of a Dollar tradition: a school rugby match followed by a highly civilised and enjoyable lunch buffet, gathering together individuals who share a passion for both Dollar Academy and the sport of rugby.


10 November 2014: ‘Both Comic and Disturbing’: Dollar Academy’s Upcoming Senior School Play
This year’s Senior School production is Friedrich Durrenmatt’s classic tragicomedy The Visit.  It will be performed on Monday 24 November and Tuesday 25 November at 7:30 in the Assembly Hall.

Senior School Play: The Visit

24th, 25th & 26th November 2014


This year’s Senior School production is Friedrich Durrenmatt’s classic tragicomedy The Visit.  It will be performed on Monday 24 November, Tuesday 25 November and Wednesday 26 November at 7:30pm in the Assembly Hall. 


Tickets cost £5 (£3 concessions) and can be purchased through Parent Pay or at the door.
