Develop co-operative and team building skills. Liaison with all year groups throughout school community will help improve leadership skills. Opportunities to develop personal skills in a variety of ways – design, innovation, research. Advance the development and progress of reduction of waste within the school.
There are recycling bins in every classroom for cans, plastic and paper.
The overall aim is to reduce the amount of waste produced and recycle that which is generated. Feedback so far has been very positive in terms of the amount of waste recycled.
Common sense is a key element in what to do with waste. Drinks cans need to be crushed and completely empty before they are put in the bags. Plastic bottles should be empty and plastic food packaging clean. Cardboard boxes should be flattened.
