ART AND DESIGN SPECIALIST
In August 2005, Dollar’s Art Department moved into magnificent purpose-built new accommodation. A suite of five teaching rooms, a permanent studio set-up for Form VI, a computer suite, a three-dimensional design studio and specialist ceramics environment, and an area currently designated for Prep and Junior School classes provide state-of-the-art facilities for the large number of enthusiastic students who opt to study Art and Design in Dollar.
The department has eight members of staff, who bring a variety of specialisms. Each is an expert, and the senior pupils can be assigned to the individual teachers who have strengths to match the particular interests of the student.
The beginning of session 2008-2009 in August brings the opportunity for a highly skilled and dedicated member of staff to join this thriving department. A well-qualified, enthusiastic and committed specialist teacher capable of taking classes in Intermediate Two, Higher and Advanced Higher and in Primary, Junior and Senior levels is sought. It is particularly important that the successful candidate will have strengths and vision which will further extend the creative environment which currently exists in the Academy.
In recent years, senior pupils have won prizes in a range of national competitions, and there is an extraordinary number involved in Art and Design on leaving Dollar. The environment for artistic study provided in the Maguire Building depends on the continuing inspirational approach of all the staff involved.
An ability to teach from early stages to Sixth Form will be advantageous. All teaching staff in Dollar Academy should either be GTC registered or eligible for registration.
Letters of application, along with a current CV which should include the names and contact details of two referees, should be sent to The Rector, Dollar Academy, Dollar FK14 7DU by Tuesday 8 April. Interviews will be held towards the end of April.
