MUSIC SPECIALIST

Required for August 2008, a well qualified and inspirational Music Specialist to join a busy department with a distinguished tradition of music making.  Applicants must be registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland or eligible for registration. 

We are looking for a colleague able to demonstrate:

  • the ability to motivate and inspire pupils;
  • a willingness to organize and participate in extra-curricular activities (including evenings and weekends as required);
  • high artistic standards;
  • a wide range of skills;
  • a commitment to high quality teaching and learning, including the training and directing of choirs, orchestras, and ensembles;
  • the vision to contribute to the ongoing development of the department;
  • the ability to make effective use of Music Technology in the classroom.

  • purpose built facilities;
  • well established orchestras, choirs and ensembles at all levels;
  • outstanding academic results.

School Responsibilities

  • To promote excellence in learning and teaching.
  • To report to parents at parents' evenings and on other occasions as required.
  • To attend staff meetings (approximately four per session).
  • To deal appropriately with parents and pupils, and to ensure that confidentiality is maintained in relation to pupils and colleagues.
  • To cover classes for absent colleagues as necessary within the allocated hours.
  • To contribute to the co-curricular life of the Academy and, where appropriate, to its boarding community.
