DAILY LIFE IN ARGYLL HOUSE

(Also see Argyll House booklet for daily timetable)

Boarders follow the standard school day from 8.45 am until 3.25 pm, after which most of our girls will participate in one or more of the many activities offered in the extra-curricular programme, such as sport, horse riding, music or drama. (For details consult the Information on extra-curricular activities booklet). The dining hall provides three meals for boarders with a great range of different foods to cater for all sorts of dietary requirements. (See weekly lunch and dinner menus)

At 6 pm, prep time starts for all boarders. The juniors up to Form III finish their prep at 7.30 pm and the seniors at 8 pm. After that, supper is served in the House. There are many ways in which the girls can relax in the evenings: playing table tennis, e-mailing or phoning family/friends, playing or listening to music, watching TV/DVDs, or simply chatting with each other and the staff; there may be visits to other Houses or a trip to the fitness suite for senior girls.

At the weekend, a lot of the girls are involved in sport – hockey, tennis, and athletics – or are busy relaxing. There is usually some social or outing planned for most of the weekends. For details for this term, also see our Calendar of Events. Our regular planned activities include: cinema, shopping, arts and crafts in the House or at the Ceramic Experience, climbing, swimming and cooking/baking and dining in or out. We also have all sorts of parties on offer depending on the season: BBQ, Halloween, Christmas, Easter and others. For more details see House events and activities. The outings tend to be on a Saturday afternoon as a lot of girls are involved in sports in the morning or on Sunday after church.
