PARENTS IN MCNABB HOUSE COMMENT

"We would advise parents to visit Dollar and savour the remarkable atmosphere in the classroom and the boarding houses. The boarding houses, with their dedicated staff, are small and offer exceptional care to the children.
The refurbished McNabb is the ideal stepping stone for increasing independence prior to university. There is always a good feel to the place, never intimidating, always welcoming. The boarders develop strong links with the day pupils living in Dollar, another feature which adds to the whole experience.
Furthermore, being in such close proximity to the school allows the boarders to participate fully in the rich array of extra-curricular activities.
We have three boys and are now in our seventh year of Dollar boarding. Each visit we leave increasingly confident that they are getting a wonderful chance in a very special environment."

"The earlier excitement for our son was rapidly replaced by apprehension and nerves as we approached Dollar on that first day, in glorious sunshine. We went straight to McNabb house and were warmly welcomed by staff and shown to our son's 'home from home' for the next school year. The apprehension began to wane as the dynamics of the day overtook tearful farewells and the 'old hands' of the school took him under their wing. We left feeling sad but reasonably content that our sixteen year old was in good hands.

Telephone and e-mail conversations over the days and weeks following quickly assured us that the new environment and our son were fitting very well, even having completed his first duty in the boot room…"

"Our son seems very settled and at ease with life - he is enjoying the house set up and gets on well with everyone there. The main point is that the boys are treated as responsible young adults rather than schoolchildren. I think that has created the relaxed and friendly atmosphere and has helped him enjoy being there so much.
He has relished the trips to the cinema/theatre- these are often so much more fun when with contemporaries.
He likes his room and missed access to pool and table tennis when he was back home."
