Spectacular Carol Concert

For the second year running, Dollar Academy held its Christmas Carol Concert in Perth Concert Hall on Wednesday 12 December.  The event was a sell-out, with many local residents snapping up tickets along with the eager parents and grandparents of Academy pupils. 

The standard was exceptional: highlights included a virtuoso performance of ‘Nigun’ by gifted local violinist Rowan McGirr, ‘Of the Father’s heart begotten’ with soloist Aidan Ford and the first Scottish performance of Cecilia McDowall's ‘Christus Natus Est’ with soprano Kate Reynolds.

The climax of the night was a live performance of ‘The Snowman’, narrated by the Academy’s Rector, Mr. John Robertson, with the film score performed by the massed choirs and orchestra.
