Charities Committee v Teachers Football Match

On Friday 14th March the much fancied Dollar Academy Charities Committee football team faced up to their toughest challenge to date.  The staff football team were expected to provide an easy win for the team as their strong line up took to the field of play.  A large crowd gathered around the pitch to watch the spectacle as they generously donated £175 for sport relief.  The first half saw the staff team take an early lead, thanks to a Helen Young own goal.  This deficit only grew as the committee’s goalkeeper, Sam Grant, offered little resistance to the volley of shots coming his way.  At half time it was 2-0 to the teachers and it was time for a change of plan.  With the necessary switch of players, the committee came out for the second half with all guns blazing.  The score line was stabilised for much of the second half but a late third goal for the teachers sealed the fate of the ambitious charities committee team.  Their humiliation was complete when the final whistle ended the 3-0 defeat.  Battered and bruised, both the pupils and staff left the field with smiles on their faces knowing that their efforts were for a good cause.  This event was most definitely one of the most enjoyable, for the committee, staff and spectators.
