The Captain John McNabb Society Annual Lunch

At the end of June 2002, Dollar Academy launched The Captain John McNabb Society. The Society's members are those Former Pupils of the Academy who have generously decided to leave a legacy to Dollar Academy in their Will. We are delighted that we already have eighty members of The Captain John McNabb Society.

The fourth annual Captain John McNabb Society Lunch took place on Thursday 1st December 2005. It was held in the Captain’s Room in the new Maguire Building, which seemed a most appropriate venue as the Maguire Building was funded to a large extent by a legacy from the late Brian Maguire, a Former Pupil of Dollar Academy.

Fifty people attended the lunch, which was a wonderful turn-out. They included members of the Captain John McNabb Society, as well as Governors of Dollar Academy and members of the Maguire family. The meal itself, provided by the school caterer Mr Sandy Mackie, was first-rate, and enjoyed by everyone there. Both the Rector, Mr John Robertson, and the Chairman of Governors, Mr John Cameron, gave short speeches thanking members for attending, and particularly thanking Mrs Maguire for the wonderful gift from her late husband.

After lunch, tours were given of the Maguire Building; the building was then officially opened by Mrs Maguire.
