Junior School Musical
Dollar Academy Junior School Musical was staged over three nights between Wednesday 13th and Friday 15th June, with an impressive performance of the well-known Broadway Musical 'Annie'.
From the moment everyone found out that the Junior 2 musical was ‘Annie’ , the whole year group was buzzing with excitement. Eva Caie played a very fiesty version of little orphan Annie, Imogen Hubbard portrayed a convincingly frightening Miss Hannigan and Alexander Rees was a most entertaining Warbucks. The cast of 100 worked hard during rehearsals and delivered beautiful performances of the musical numbers and impressed the audiences with their confident acting and slick routines.
Speaking of her involvement, J2 pupil Sophie Ferguson, said: "I have really enjoyed being part of Annie especially as I was lucky enough to be given one of the main parts, that of Grace. Each night, when we reached the last scene, I felt disappointed that it was all over – all our hard work gone in a flash – and I couldn’t wait to get back on stage to perform to our next audience. All of the cast were great fun in rehearsals and there was the right balance of work and fun in each session. Everybody got on very well and altogether ‘Annie’ was an experience I will never forget."
Assistant head of Junior School, Sally Horne, commented: "The show was a sell-out success, which is a testament to the hard work of every pupil involved. It was lovely to see their confidence develop throughout the term. The standard of this year's musical reflects that of a very strong year group. They staged a magnificent performance and we all had a lot of fun working with them."
