Junior School Burns Recital Competition

The annual Junior School Burns Recital Competition took place on Tuesday 5th February.  Sixty five pupils were entered for the final which was judged by the President of the Dollar Burns Club, Mr. Graham Pearson, Mr. Hector Nicolson, also representing Dollar Burns Club, and Mrs. Kate Murray, Chair of English at Dollar Academy.

In a closely-run competition two former Junior 1 prizewinners, Jack Ballantine and Fiona Keith, came closest to securing the Burns Club Quaich, with Jack securing the first prize after performing a superbly animated rendition of ‘Address to a Haggis’.  The other prizewinners, each of whom received a poetry book, were Alice Green, McKenzie Shepherd, Ross McGregor, Sandy Cameron, Hannah Leggatt and Jack McNicol.
