Observatory Visit 2007

On Friday 23rd November I went to the Royal Observatory and had lots of fun. We learned about the 8 planets. We had two scientists that told us what to do and they told us information. We went up onto the roof and saw Edinburgh Castle.
I held a meteor rock. It was rough. We also saw the biggest telescope in Britain. After we went down to the gift shop and bought a few things. I bought a springy and a ball and a post card. On the Postcard it had a rocket blasting off. Then we went on the bus and then it was time to go home.

Inside the Royal Observatory they had the biggest telescope in Britain. When we went to the roof we saw a light spectrum with different gases. I found out that different gases reflect the light in different ways. We held meteors and meteorites some where made of iron and some of rock. We went on the roof and saw Edinburgh Castle. After that we asked Tim, the astronomer some questions and Will was our tour guide. He showed us round the Observatory.
At the end we went to the gift shop. I got some slime which can glow in the dark.

On Friday the 23rd November we went to the Royal Observatory. First we went into a room with a massive telescope in it and found out that it was the biggest telescope in Scotland. Will was our guide. We saw a presentation about space and we got to hold meteorites. We saw an astronomer and got to ask him questions about space. We went on the roof to look out of a telescope and I saw Edinburgh Castle. At the end we went to the gift shop and I bought bouncing putty.
The best bit was the telescope. I enjoyed it a lot.

On Friday 23rd November we went to the Royal Observatory. Our tour guide Will, told us about the Solar System and all the other planets. Will told us that you can’t go on Venus because there are gases and it is too hot. We went up stairs to the telescope. The move could move sideways and opened up. We got to hold very old meteors. I didn’t enjoy going on the roof because it was so cold. We then met Tim the Astronomer. We asked him questions and he could tell us the answer. I enjoyed visiting the gift shop. I got a poster of space and a thing where you finger in.

On Friday 23rd November we went to the Royal Observatory. I liked holding asteroids the best. They were heavy and some were magnetic. We looked out of a telescope, the biggest in Britain. Then we went to the gift shop and I bought some goo.

On Friday 23rd November we went to visit the Royal Observatory. When we got their we all went to put our bags in the lift and then we went up winding stairs. When we finally got up the stairs we all sat down and talked about the gigantic telescope. After that we went down some of the stairs onto the roof. When I got to the roof everyone was running about madly in the cold. Then we all went inside and Will, our tour guide, told us about the Solar System and all of the planets. After that we had a break and then half of us went outside and looked through a little telescope across Edinburgh. After that Tim, the astronomer, came in and we asked him some questions. Then we all went down the stairs and into the gift shop. I bought 3 things: a bouncy ball, a bag of marbles and I also got a set of magnetic marbles like comets. I enjoyed the huge telescope because o could not believe how big it was.

On Friday 23rd November 2007 Prep 4P went to the Royal Observatory. We all went to pick up some more knowledge for our space topic. We saw the biggest telescope in Scotland. We watched a presentation on space. Will, our tour guide, helped us look through a telescope, it wasn’t as big as the other one. Tim, our astronomer, taught us that there is a belt which divides the gas planets and rock planets. I bought a stone from space from the gift shop.

On Friday 23rd November we went to the Royal Observatory. At the Observatory there was a man called Will and he took is all over the observatory. Will took us upstairs to the telescope and he told us all about the biggest telescope in the whole of Scotland. After an hour Will took us up onto the roof and he told us all about the planets and the Solar System. After we learned about the Solar System Time came in. When Time went up to the front he asked if anybody had any questions. Tim told us that Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin were both the first men on the moon in 1969. I really enjoyed it my favourite bit was learning all about the Solar System.
