Examples of some pupils’ work in Intermediate II Computing

Pupils develop their programming skills in Visual Basic throughout Form III and Form IV. Many of their programs are based on simple ideas.

Morse Code

This is a simple morse code program by Calum Waterston, present Form VI, written a number of years ago.

Many pupils now enjoy integrating aspects of the Multimedia Unit with the Software Development Unit, for example, an introductory Flash screen for a computer game that they have written. Some of the most effective programs, however, can be the no frills versions.

Nim  

An example of one such program is the Nim game written by James Yuill, a former pupil, when in Form IV.

Hangman 

Hangman is a computer version of the popular paper-based game and was written by Angus Logan, a former pupil, when in Form III Computing.

The pupils also develop useful skills for creating and using multimedia in the Intermediate2 Computing course. They become confident in the areas of graphics manipulation, animation, digital video, sound editing, web design and authoring.

Pivot Stickfigure Animator is software that allows you to create stick figure animations easily. This animation for Dollar Academy was designed and created by Jonnie Green, Form IV.
