Trip to New Lanark
Earlier this term, Form III History pupils visited New Lanark for the day as part of their Standard Grade course. This trip offered a wonderful opportunity for pupils to witness what life was like in an 18th century Cotton Mill.
Pupils were able to travel on the ‘millennium experience’ to help them understand the vision and dream behind New Lanark. In the on-site cinema, a viewing of the ‘Annie McLeod’ story gave a young girl's account of what life was like for children in this period and was an eye-opening experience for many in attendance.
A very thorough and interesting tour of the whole Cotton Mill and living quarters was given to Dollar pupils; our visit to the school which was located in the factory was of particular interest. A great day was had by all involved and the experience will undoubtedly prove invaluable as pupils progress through Standard Grade History.
