British Ladies Open Curling Championships
Form II pupil Jayne Stirling recently participated in the British Ladies Open Curling Championships and was a member of the victorious rink. A senior event, Jayne is, we believe, the youngest person ever to be in the winning team. Jayne’s entry into the competition came about when she went to spectate at the British Ladies Open with her grandfather. The head coach from her club was competing and she asked Jayne if would be available to play in the Championships as they were one player short. Jayne then joined their rink for the semi-final and final, which they won. Her coach was delighted with her performance: "We were delighted to have Jayne in the team. She was the perfect team player, her etiquette was immaculate, she played very few bad shots and she swept her heart out. It must have been very difficult for her to play with not only a bunch of old ladies but her coach as well!"
